Term 5: Speaking exam skills/ EOY revision
This term, students will clarify common grammatical areas such as: por/para, ser/estar, imperfect/ preterite. They will practise the different components of the speaking exam at GCSE - describing a photo, role plays and general conversation. These skills will be combined with the most recent 3 topics that they have studied in the GCSE course. They will also revise topics taught at the start of Year 9 in order to prepare for their EOY exam.

Term 1: Oriéntate
Students will practise using the form 'tener' que to express obligation. They will look at the world of work and formally learn the conditional tense, discussing what they would like to do in the future and why. Dictionary skills and adjective endings will be revisited in preparation for the focus on accuracy in the new GCSE.
Reading - students will complete an end-of-module reading assessment with an additional GCSE question.

Term 2: En forma
Daily routine, health and diet will be focused upon, as well as active lifestyles. The form 'se debe' to express obligation will be taught and practised, and body parts will be studied. Students will be able to say where something hurts and will start to form more complex sentences.
Speaking - pupils to answer a range of questions about their lifestyles and will also describe a recent injury.

Term 6: Mi gente
Students will learn to talk about social networks and their use of different apps, along with their reading preferences. They will also describe friends and family, and their relationships. They will learn the difference between 'ser' and 'estar' and how to use the present continuous tense.

Term 3: Desconéctate
This unit starts the GCSE course. Students revise the preterite tense through the exciting topic of holidays with a particular focus on Barcelona. By the end, students should be able to describe a holiday using three tenses and make a hotel reservation.
Writing - students will complete their first GCSE-style assessment - a 90 word writing task and translation into Spanish.

Term 4: Mi vida en el insti
Students revisit the topic of school that they will not have seen since Year 7; they will describe their daily life at school including uniform, facilities, subjects, teachers, rules and describe an ideal day at school.
