Term 1: Individual Coursework Project Cont - Developing Ideas
Students will develop ideas for their personal projects towards creating final pieces, exploring a variety of media, and refining work as they go. Students can produce practice pieces for final pieces and should be creative and experimental in their approach.Students will continue to be assessed under the four GCSE Art assessment objectives.
Students will be assessed holistically, taking into account the work they have done over the entire term. They will be assessed on their development of ideas, written research of artists/themes, experimentation of materials, use of materials and final outcomes.

Term 2: Individual Coursework project - Final Piece
Individual coursework project Final Piece. To complete their individual projects, students will complete a personal final piece. They can do this in a choice of media but will work to their strengths identified since the start of the course. Students will aim to spend 10 hours on the final piece. Some of this time will be spent in mock exam conditions in preparation for the practical Art exam at the end of Year 11.Students will be assessed on the entire project using the four assessment objectives.

Term 3: Exam Project: Question Paper Issued and Preparatory Period
Students are required to elicit a personal response from one starting point or project brief within the paper for which they have been entered. They are expected to develop their own work informed by their preparatory studies, evidencing coverage of all four assessment objectives. The project briefs are provided by the exam board and students will have a choice of which to begin this term.
Students will be assessed on their work as a portfolio against the four assessment objectives. The work is then moderated in house and by an external moderator for AQA

Term 4: Exam Project: Preparatory period
Students will be producing their project work in response to a chosen exam board directed brief. Following this preparation time, a ten hour period of sustained focused study will take place in which students are expected to develop their own unaided work informed by their preparatory studies. During the preparatory period, teachers may discuss starting points with candidates and give them general guidance on the choice of materials, how to carry out preparatory studies or how to begin research. The aim is to conduct all preparation work and be ready for the final exam, in which students will use this material to inform their final examined piece (10 hours)

The ten hour exam is likely to take place over two consecutive days. Work completed during this period must be the student’s own unaided work and will allow students to realise their final piece in exam conditions.
