Term 1Digital Literacy iDEA

Term 1bControl Systems and Algorithms: Flowol
Students learn about control systems and develop an understanding of why and how technology is used all around us. The main focus is learning about input, process and outputs involved in developing controls systems and students investigate the importance of systems design and the consequences of system failure. Students will use Flowol to develop their logical reasoning and problem solving talents, develop programming skills and explore the world of automatic, autonomous systems and robots. Flowol supports many programming elements including sequences of instructions, branching using decisions, loops (infinite, or based on a condition or count), variables and simple variable manipulation and sub-procedures

Term 2Programming in Python 
Python 3 to introduce text based programming . Students will explore the fundamentals of computational thinking, explore the fundamentals of programming structures and learn how to design, create and write programs

Term 4Web Design - using Google Sites
Google Sites is a Google web application that allows users to create wikis and websites, with ease of use and collaborative design. Google Sites is free to use and is included in the G-Suite Education list of tools. Web design tool for developing websites, student project sites, or encouraging students to show their knowledge in different ways, check out Google Sites. Students will learn how to make Sites, add pages, hyperlinks, navigation and to customise layouts.

Term 5Graphics - Gimp
This is an introduction to graphics and graphic file types. The unit explores how bitmap and vector images are represented and stored by the computer. There is also opportunity for pupils to practise skills in design, photo editing and image manipulation using layers to create a movie poster using a suitable graphics package such as Photoshop. The pupils’ final posters are put into an assessment portfolio.

Term 6Applied Digital Skills Project
Pupils will use a variety of digital applications to complete a project. Pupils will learn how to select and use existing tools such as google slides, google docs, google sheets and google sites to manage a project. They will also learn to communicate more efficiently through emails, internet search, and digital documents.
