KS3 Curriculum Guide - Year 7 Physical Education
Term 1Rugby (invasion games)   
Pupils will learn and develop movement, decision making and tactical understanding within a wide variety of invasion games and scenarios. The emphasis will be on pupil's ability to adapt these skills depending on the rules and requirements of these games.
Assessment: Assessment: Pupils will perform a set drill which is to be videoed by the teaching staff. One video for each grading criteria. Staff to then moderate each others videos to gain accurate grading of classes. Key Words and Terms
 
Term 2Swimming   
Pupils will improve in the four main strokes and improve their core strength. They will study the importance of body position in the water, by understanding the effects of drag and the streamline position. They will be introduced to the game of Water Polo.

Term 3Gymnastics   
Through the activities in this unit pupils will be able to understand, use and spell correctly word relating to gymnastics and relationship between partners. Eg synchronise, canon, unison, symmetrical and mirrored. ICT. Watch video/compare performance. Communication Speaking and Listening. Cooperation Working together. Problem solving

Term 4Football    
In this topic, students will develop skills through a games understanding approach to sport. Students will develop their discrete skills through game play, devising tactics and developing coaching roles.

Term 5Cricket   
Pupils will learn and develop their catching, throwing and ground fielding skills. Pupils will also learn sport specific striking techniques in cricket, rounders and softball, as well as the rules involved in each sport.

Term 6Athletics
