Religion & Philosophy Overview
Curriculum

Term 1 (Year 12 Drop Down Day 1 - 8 hours) (Note: 2 Year Cycle): This house believes that capital punishment should be reintroduced in the UK

Students will explore the morality of capital punishment. Areas studied will be historical context, Amnesty international and statistics, current practices around the world, application of ethical theories and belief systems.

Students will be divided into groups (for and against) and take part in a live debated, judged by a school governor.

Term 2 - (Year 12 Drop Down Day 2 - 8 hours): This house believes that abortion should be criminalised in the UK

Students will explore the morality of abortion. Areas studied will be historical context, Roe V Wade and statistics, current practices around the worlds, application of ethical theories and belief systems

Students will be divided into groups (for and against) and take part in a live debated, judged by a school governor.

Term 3 (Year 12 Drop Down Day 3 - 8 hours): This house believes that everyone has the right to decide when they die

Students will explore the morality of Ethanasia. Areas studied will be historical context, Holland, current statistics, current practices around the world, application of ethical theories and belief systems.

Students will be divided into groups (for and against) and take part in a live debated, judged by a school governor.
