Term 1: Self Concept

In this topic, students will explore 'Self concept' which is the self-constructed views held from the beliefs someone has about themselves and how others respond. The topic will include discussion around body image, as well as body enhancement and alterations.

Students will participate in class discussions and debates.

Students will develop in a range of areas during this topic, including becoming more aware whilst developing their own understanding and decisions regarding this topic.

Term 2: Mental Health

In this topic, students will explore 'Mental Health' including common issues around mental health including stigma and getting support. We will also discuss promoting our own and others' wellbeing and what that might look like.

Term 3: Healthy Lifestyles

In this topic, students will explore 'Healthy Lifestyles' which includes discussion aroundexposure to the sun, breast and testicular cancer awareness, common illnesses and a healthy diet. We will also focus on evaluating the media's messages about health and how someone can access health services.

Term 4: Managing risk and personal safety

In this topic, students will explore 'Managing risk and personal safety' which includes discussion around safe travel and safety whilst abroad. We will also focus on First Aid elements of personal safety.

In this topic, students will explore 'Relationship Values' which includes discussion around healthy relationships, inclusion, managing new friends and ending relationships. We will also focus on relationships in different faiths and cultures and how to have a constructive dialogue.
